Tasty Tuesdays: Timing Experiment

Tasty Tuesdays: Timing Experiment

Hello!

I want to share a completed experiment to see if you get similar results or different ones… I’d love to hear.

I’ve written a few blogs about my relationship with cake and sugar. Yes. It’s been weaved through posts. But those are the biggies.

Here’s the experiment…

I tried eating processed sugar at different times of the day.

And?

I found if I eat it with dinner? It impacts my sleep.

Breakfast and lunch? Totally fine.

And if it’s my main source of food without a protein of some kind? I get high then want to sleep. Nope. Just nap. SLEEP MY ASS OFF.

Natural sugar doesn’t impact me nearly as hard.

BUT BUT BUT

It still affects me.

So?

Am I going to be a “good girl” and eliminate all process sugar?

Fuck no.

I’ll let myself have occasional special treats. It sets me up to fail if I go cold turkey with processed sugar. Yup. It has addictive qualities. If you study Dr. Gabor Mate’s practices around addiction, he talks about everything having the capacity to be addictive. This has more to do with your relationship with the thing than the actual thing. So? A sticky note could register the same way in someone’s body the way cocaine can another person’s body.

And going cold turkey? Removes a symptom instead of addressing the underlying piece driving that behavior.

Like me?

I recognize that I loved processed sugar before I started to “thaw” my trauma cuz it helped me feel alive. Now that I’m working with embodiment? I can enjoy sugar rather than allow it to consume me. Love it!

How about you?

As always: Have a glamorous day for fun!!
