My Artistry

My Artistry

Hello!

Dudes!!! I’ve finally settled into my new job.

And????

I love love love having three days to work on my indie filmmaking and writing. Very cool!!

Now…

It’s time to talk about the foundation for my next round of films. As an aside? I think the word “film” is a tad stuffy. Throwing the word “indie” in front of it? Helps me sound like I don’t have a stick in my ass.

I digress.

But wait!

I’ll regress for a moment. How? We came across my baby book when we were looking through my mom’s memorabilia trunk the other week.

And?

Yup. She talked about me not conforming even at age two… again at age three… and four… you get the picture.

Cuz conventional wisdom to make it in Hollywood? Follow their rules. Kiss the right asses… just the way they want. Yodel their “rules” from every mountain top. You’ll make it for sure!! Right?

Nope.

You’re better off to make your own path that pushes you to work on your craft. Fail in public on the regular too.

Like the notes on my early standup? I sounded more like TED Talk speaker than a comic. Toastmasters called me out for using the word “cuz” and swearing since those tend to be more formal speeches. It’s like my brain reversed the two.

Oopsy!!

BUT BUT BUT

I’m still doing both. And? I’m getting more laughs at standup while I made it through the first two levels of engaging humor for Toastmasters in less than a year.

Combining that with my time being a sample girl? Yup. I pitched products over 100+ times a day. The result? I graduated when I sold almost 90 units of a smoothie looking like cat poop.

Another cool aspect to all these VERY PUBLIC reps along with writing almost 300 blog in less than 10 months? I could easily see when I was too far in my head when l finished sorting my poetry last week. Love that too!

Talk about an amazing foundation for my microbudget features built in the tradition of Robert Rodriguez. And of course? Roger Corman. Since I don’t have to develop film? I get to keep down those costs. Super duper awesome!

I also remember when X was Twitter. Filmmaker Dan Lotz starting a movement called “Folk Filmmaking.” And it got to rethink how I define a feature film. Cuz I realized? There’s no real agreement on what constitutes what.

Perfect for me since it lets me do what I do best:

Make it up while I go along and

Prod the bear.

Yup.

That’s my artistry… I absolutely and positively love prodding the bear.

Trolling my mom too.

But that prodding the bear part? Brings joy to my heart.

After all?

It’s not just the budget that makes a good movie. Cuz if you don’t know how it use it?

Where is the closest garbage can?

So?

I’m giving myself the challenge of putting together 11+ microbudget features in less than 10 years on top of everything else.

Yup.

It’s going to be intense. Fun too. I can’t wait for all that I’ll learn. This kicks off in 2027. I’m setting up everything right now.

Yippie!!

Let me know if you want to participate in some capacity. I’m slowly but surely building my team. As this is a tiny production? It’s portable to be done wherever I end up in the world. 😁

As always: Have a glamorous day for fun!!
