As Lori gets a good hard look at Miranda?? Miranda bursts into tears. Lori hustles Miranda inside her place.

“I only want the neighbors talking about me.”

“Who cares Mom? I don’t want to be here anymore.”

“Why not? Magic City had been good to you.”

“How? I’ve sent out over 100 resumes. Even McDonald’s won’t hire me.”

“Oh poor me. Don’t you think that I’ve struggled here too? But this is our home.”

“Ours? I don’t belong here.”

“That’s not the point.”

“No?”

“Don’t look to those loud mouths ruining it for us all.  It just takes time. And if you’re talking about your California experience your resume? You might as well grow a second head.”

“I just don’t know.”

“You can sleep on my couch. Air conditioning is nice.”

“Air conditioning won’t solve my problems. “

“You’ll feel better when you do.”

Lori pats Miranda on the head. Miranda slinks to the couch and flops for the day.”
