I realized something important last night when I was teaching my first section of “producer’s economics”…

Dude!?!

I need to break that up into five classes rather than just one. How come?

I broke down the five sections of turning an idea into a distributed movie. Yes. I left distribution for next week’s class on relationships.

BUT BUT BUT

Development, Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production, and Distribution can all have their own classes.

Trying to cover four sections in one? I’m sure my students felt run over by a Mack Truck. This is especially since one knows very little about the filmmaking process.

What does that mean for Producer School when I run it again? I’m wondering if I should build it out to a semester long course or figure out what I can cut out. I’ll know more after I run all nine classes for my three sessions.

Cuz it’s good to think about what actually needs to be available in a producer primer???
