“God, Elaine. Whatever are you doing here?”
“You never come here, Lorraine. That’s why I do. Did you stalk me here?”
“Christ. Call me Lori. I’m no one’s granny.”
A beat.
“I can call you Lori?”
“Move over first though.”
Elaine slides over in the booth a little despite sticking along the way. Lori tries to look Elaine in the eye.
“Elaine. Elaine. Elaine. Whatever is your problem with me?”
“My problem with you?”
“Yes, Elaine. It’s soooooooo big. Our girls can’t work together.”
“That’s not me.”
“Yes, Elaine. You’re the one with the big problem.”
“I’m not the one giving nasty looks, Lorraine.”
“Lori.”
“Fine. I’m not the one giving nasty looks, Lori.”
“Have you ever tried? It’s quite fun. See…”
Lori gives another customer a side eye and chortles.
“Why I never.”
“Except you carry a grudge like it’s this year’s purse.”
“I do not!”
“Oh, please, Elaine.”
“What do you care?”
“I didn’t until it impacted Miranda.”
Lori clears her throat… “And Heather.”
“Why do you have to pretend to be all reasonable? I know better.”
“I’m bored already, Elaine. So, whatever you think I did? I’m sure it was young girl nonsense. Menopause absolved me.”
“That’s not how menopause works.”
“Mine does.”
“Oh, Lorraine.”
Lori lifts a brow.
Elaine groans.
“I’ll pick the place next time. The roaches want their lunch here.”
Lori stands up and leaves. Elaine looks in her coffee.
“She left me call her Lori.”
As always: Have a glamorous day for fun!!
Yup a couple of goodies. 😁
