Fabulous Fridays: Performing Authority

Fabulous Fridays: Performing Authority

Hello!

I’ve been pulling apart the idea of authority for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ass time. This is even more important in the mental health field cuz folks are trusting you to help them with their wellness.

And I don’t take this lightly.

Yup…

You now know the my rationale of completing Layla Martin’s VITA coaching classes before I formally launch my “wellness” coaching. Sure. I’ve done some coaching with breathwork alone. Okay. A LOT.

Here’s the thing though:

I don’t think it’s enough to get one certification once to declare myself an expert until cockroaches rule the earth.

BUT BUT BUT

I also know that there still needs to be standards even though I continue to seek outside information.

This push pull?

Helped me coin the phrase “Pretzelitis.”

Cuz really?

It’s like there’s the expectation for me to know everything about a topic when I hang up my shingle…

EXCEPT?

I’ve run into a number of people claiming to be experts without them being able to account for I what I consider even basic shit.

So?

Their help at times can create far more mess than the original challenge.

Since???

It’s impossible to know everything about everything even if it’s single topic.

Why yes…

It comes down to something Ronald Reagan once said: Trust but verify.

This includes oneself: We thoughts rattling around in our head that may have been valid at one point. Maybe even longer…

Still true in the light of a new day?

As always: Have a glamorous day for fun!!
