As I mentioned in Saturday’s check in post??? I’m starting summer script school.

BUT BUT BUT

It’s not a traditional script school or traditional film school. If you want those??? Montana State University has Montana’s main film school while University of Montana has Montana’s main media arts program. Heck. Montana State University-Billings and University of Montana – Western even offers some classes connected to film.

And like most well reputed schools? They primarily focus on the different aspects of the filmmaking craft. These are incredibly valueable skills. Yes. The Media Arts program has two classes on the business side of filmmaking…

EXCEPT

They lump it with the sports industry. I’m sure that the other programs also discuss the business of filmmaking and writing.

Well?

I will do a deep dive on skills that I’ve found to be helpful that I’ve drawn my indie filmmaking, business, scriptwriting, being a script reader, film curator, film screener, working in other industries, and even my embodied breathwork.

These are more soft skills that can serve your overall writing and filmmaking career. I’ll be talking about this more in my bottom line post and my new Thursday post.

As this is my first time offering, it’s a beta test. I want to see how things work, You’ll be able to give feedback at the end. It’ll be on a donation basis instead of a paid basis for this first round. And if you don’t have any resources right now? Totally cool. This offering is part of what I call “doing reps.” Yup. We’ll be talking about those in the class.

I’ll offer the classes on Sunday nights, Monday afternoons and Friday mornings. I’ll introduce a new topic each week with similar material offered in the three sessions. More to follow soon.
