Truth Tellers

Truth Tellers

Hello!

I’ve long thought of my oil pastels as truth tellers. Huh?

I generally don’t have an agenda when I draw with them. It’s about letting things reveal themselves to me however they want.

Yes. I used to draw like a motherfucker when I was a girl. Like piles and piles of artwork. Most of them were pictures of women wearing different outfts. Do you suppose that means I was planting the seed for today’s fashionista quest? Bahaha!!

Drawing my own superheroes was a large of that process cuz I read lots and lots of comic books during childhood. This was when I wasn’t sneaking my mom’s Cosmopolitan magazine. I’d hide in the closet to read them to ensure not being caught. It gave dating wisdom like using velvet and other textured bedspreads to let your cellulite blend into them. Why? Lets you be more attractive. I also remember the suggestion of wearing high heels to bed in order to make your legs look longer.

Charming.

They also have “pastels” that are more like crayons…

BUT BUT BUT

It’s not the same cuz your hands don’t get messy using them. I love how the pastel gets all over my hands when using them. That’s the reason that you see finger prints on some of the colors. I don’t clean my hands between using the various colors. Sure. That may cause the colors to not be sooooooo pure looking at some point.

Who cares?

It’s about the act of allowing whatever needs to come up to come up. I’m not taking over the world with my drawings.

AND???

Letting them be however they are feels freeing.

How about you? Any especially helpful truth tellers in your life?

As always: Have a glamorous day for fun!!
