Hello all!
I coined a phrase “small town-itis.”
And dudes????
I’ve had this battle most of my life. Nope. It’s not unique to Montana cuz I also ran into this in Los Angeles too even in places like Seattle. The idea is about it keeps coming back down to the small few people all the time. Sure. Folks talk about wanting to bring in new people…
As someone in the role of being a new person my whole life: I know folks afflicted with small town-itis will SAY they want new people and new ideas.
When you take those individuals up on their offer?
They expect you to pay your dues with them despite your experiences in the outside world.
So?
You get to decide if you want to lock into that power struggle or create your own thing. Sure. They may appear to have more clout and fanciness on surface. Associating with them may look great on your resume EXCEPT how does being an overglorified intern benefit you beyond being in name only?
I know! I know! I know!
Doing your own thing: A SHIT TON OF WORK.
EXCEPT
You will give yourself opportunities that you will take you years to get working for someone else if they’re even willing to give you that opportunity AT ALL.
Cuz there’a really good chance?
It’s going to keep going to the same three people despite their protests about wanting new blood.
Yes…
We’re going to be going more in-depth in my producer script school starting on June 14…
It comes down to this:
I believe you can get shit done. That’s the secret sauce: Mindset trumps skill set to me cuz I can teach skills. But mindset? That’s on you.
Ready to tackle that?
As always: Have a glamorous day for fun!!
At first I thought you were talking about small town titsπ S
