Yes. This week seems to be about quotes. BUT BUT BUT

I have an unexpected story… It’s about when I lived in Mexico for about seven months in 2004. I was specifically in Guadalajara. This was Mexico’s second largest city at the time. The joke? Los Angeles is actually Meixco’s second largest city cuz it has more Mexicans than Guardalajara.

I digress.

As I was living there, I saw Nescafe EVERYWHERE. Like I didn’t expect to see it all over the place cuz I know good coffee comes from Latin America as a whole. I say Latin America as a whole cuz this covers Central America and South America.

So?

I learned the art of drinking instant coffee. Huh? It’s a very different animal than coffee going through a drip machine or espresso maker.

EXCEPT

It has its own brand of tastiness. Okay. I’ve found decaf instant to be more hit and miss.

And fast forward to 2024 when I was living in North Hollywood temporary housing…

She didn’t have a microwave. Yup. Imagine not having access to a microwave or coffee maker.

I did what I had to do: Drank my instant coffee COLD. Not great. Better than no coffee. My mom saved my ass by getting me a small coffee pot that I still use now.

A thing about that coffee pot? It’s a proper one needing to heat water to make divine coffee. My work around? Either a cup of instant coffee that only takes a minute for the water to heat in the micowave or ice brew until the savory coffee is available.
