Hellooo all!

I have some exciting news: I’m consulting on the script adaptation of the play HELP from Byron Vasquez, Jr. He had a table read of it last year. Here’s a link to the video HELP TABLE READ. Byron will play Oliver in the film adaptation.

I first met Byron when he auditioned for our indie feature MY APOCALYPTIC THANKSGIVING. He played Alfredo. A thing to know about how Byron prepared for those scenes was to put gummy bears in his character’s fanny pack. No. These are never on screen. But it’s small details like that make the difference in a performance.

And dudes??? His performance was awesome!! So much so that I cast him in two short films: PIECE OF MEAT and AFTERMATH. He brings such an incredible range. Any doubts? Watch PIECE OF MEAT.

Dudes!! I absolutely appreciate that Byron is choosing to take his career in his own hands instead of being at the mercy of others to make it happen. This is beyond super cool!!

Wait!?! There’s more: Byron is an American Sign Language Interpreter. Yup. Byron knows sign language. He uses that to support his art and life.

Byron asked that I write the script. Here’s the deal: Byron has already written one script that placed in a contest. And since he knows the story OF HELP inside and out??? I suggested I give him notes for him to write it. Why not? I could never do it justice in the way that he can since he bled on the page to make it happen.. Yes. This story goes into some darker places while being grounded..

AND!?! I’m super excited cuz if anyone can carry a story like this when it’s adapted to an indie feature??? Byron is your man!!
