So…

Yesterday’s post was about tackling the anti-woman stance of the movie THE MATERIALISTS. I also wrote another blog calling out how Hollywood still treats talent like Norma Desmond in SUNSET BOULEVARD in an earlier blog post. Yes. Folks like Nerdrotic have built their careers around thoughtful analysis for why the current Hollywood system SUCKS. I believe he serves an important function whether people in Hollywood agree with me or not.

Why? If we can’t question “art????” It’s no longer art. Nope. Total propaganda. My thoughts about that? ABSOLUTELTY DISGUSTING. And if your ego is so fragile that it can’t withstand feedback? Dude. You lack the balls to be an artist. Yes. I just dropped the hammer with a principle. Cuz here’s the real truth? I think SOME of my art sucks. Aspects of other pieces also suck Still other aspects don’t work.

AND IT”S ALL TOTALLY FINE.

Why?

I’m an artist rather than an “expert.” Dude! I love to play and try things out. Translates to????

I have no idea if what I’m putting together will “land” or make sense to anyone besides me. No. I can’t throw in the line: Anyone besides my mom cuz even my own mom doesn’t always understand my art either. AND??? She doesn’t have to. No one has to. Absolutely. No one is obligated to like my art. My audiences don’t owe me fealty and unquestioning loyalty. CUZ?????

It’s the opposite: I owe my audiences entertainment. IF I DON’T ENTERTAIN THEM, THEY GET TO LEAVE. Dudes… It’s like the current crop of stars seem to have forgotten this. As the old phrase goes: Maybe they’ve been drinking too much of their own Kool-Aid. Though? That phrase shines a bad light on Kool Aid when all it is really is? Colored sugar water.

Well? I also want to be honest that I’m tired of the same group think conservative stuff that comes out of Hollywood. BUT BUT BUT Holly??? Hollywood movies champion social causes. Surely. That’s not conservative. It’s the doubling down on old ideas like THE MATERIALISTS pretends to be a movie based on new ideas?? Nope. Storylines around people with mental illness also almost always revolve around whether or not those characters are medication compliant like that’s the only decision they make ALL DAY.

Yawn. BORING BORING BORING… No wonder why people are turning to things like Instagram.

Okay. I’ll stop with my rant since it’s borderline self-indulgence. When really??? A large part of what’s happening for me to figuring out the kinds of stories that I want to tell and the kinds of folks to bring into my indie film company.

THE REAL ANSWER….

Still working on it with one IMPORTANT CAVEAT: I want to create entertaining content that PEOPLE ENJOY rather than putting them in the position of the child in “THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES” like is currently be modeled. CUZ LIKE SERIOUSLY!?! Thank God for people like Nerdrotic, Film Threat, The Critical Drinker, Clownfish TV, Geeks V Gamers, Heels vs BabyFace, Overlord DVD, and the list goes on… for folks calling out current Hollywood…

Here’s the real truth: I love Hollywood movies. And I love social justice stories that highlight what makes us both different and the same for the sake of telling good stories rather than virtue signaling. The Critical Drinker has an awesome vlog about “Woke.”

So? I also want to make Hollywood movies without such a extractive cost to human capital and pandering to old worldviews that only serve those worshipping the emperor’s new clothes when today’s audiences are the loud kid.
