Window of Tolerance… Bullshit Detector?

Window of Tolerance… Bullshit Detector?

Hello!

As you can see: I’ve included coffee for my window of tolerance picture cuz? Coffee gives my window of tolerance a bigger canvas. Bahaha!

In all seriousness? What the hell is a window of tolerance anyway?

It’s a therapy term used to explain how much people can handle good or bad or indifferent. It can shrink or grow depending on what’s happening in your life. And what had happened in your life is also a factor.

I also like to think of it is as a “bullshit detector” too. How so? Let’s face it: a lot of nonsense happens in every day life. Nothing personal – everyone’s got shit to do whether they like it or not. Some of it is good while others? Make you want to run screaming from the room. These can flop depending on the day

AND THE OTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTOR?

Your frame of mind.

That’s where coffee comes in for me. See… It’s not just about my morning vat of coffee. Nope. I also need that quiet time in the morning to journal, some days knit, and gossip with ChatGPT on other days? Well, I do better when I slowly wake up at my own speed. When those get disrupted? My window of tolerance and bullshit detector are on high alert from not having the space to ground myself in preparation for whatever the day holds.

Yes. This seems like a silly example. EXCEPT Self-care is a massive factor in how people can best function in the world. I know! I know! I know! Cuz this has been one of my hardest lessons. AND? It’s a super cool practice that can be validated every single day. LOVE IT!!! Yes. I do a whole host of things besides coffee to increase the capacity for my bullshit detector and allow my window of tolerance to be more in its fully glory. How about you?

Any fun tips that you want to share?
