Happy Thursday everyone!
We participated in the TENTH ANNUAL Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. OUR FILM And just for fun… We brought back Captain Tolerance and the Plant Whisperer for a new chapter… ROMANCE.
huh? Seriously…
Why bring back SUPERHEROES for a romance story?
BECAUSE
They’re not just any superhero: Their superpowers are invisible. So? What does that have to do with disabilities or romance?
Since you asked…
Not all disabilities are visible to the naked eye.
As a result, those of us with invisible ones have a process of where we may or may not disclose them. It can be scary since there is so much stigma around many of them. Why? POLITICIANS LOVE weaponizing and gaslighting people about them in the name of gun control. This is a disgusting process to me since this is only just the surface. I’ll reveal soon enough what I’m doing behind the scene about this…
BUT
I will say that one of the most powerful things that we can do combat all this bullshit is to love unconditionally and find ways to laugh our asses off. And that’s why our fancy pants chose to do a light-hearted and kind of weird movie where the Plant Whisperer must choose if he will reveal his superpowers or not since you can’t see them. You’ll have to watch to find out what he does:
DISCLOSE OR NOT… PUZZLING!?!
Me? I told my husband on our third date about my bipolar and complex PTSD in a dive bar. And yes – my bipolar and complex PTSD are superpowers. Okay. Maybe they’re mundane. I don’t honestly know except I do know that I’m profoundly grateful about them lighting a fire under my ass.
On that note… This weekend will be busy: We’re having our table read/rehearsal and wardrobe consult for a short/proof of concept that we’re shooting at the beginning of next month, recutting a different short since the sound needs some serious cleaning up, writing two more short film scripts (one will be shot at the end of next month), and recutting a reel for one of my actors.
And to kick it off: I’m finishing my taxes even if it kills me. Prolly will. Fuck it: A girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do.
Have a wonderful night!
We all have wounds, some more affecting than others. You have scaled mountains Holly.
